MIce Literacy and Math

Happy New Year's Eve!
I am trying to get as many of these units written during this break and I just finished the Little Mouse Literacy Unit and Mice Mathematics Centers. The literacy unit has whole group reading ideas and student writing sheets, an original (written by me) shared reading book with student copies, and many literacy centers. The book One Little Mouse by Dori Chaconas would be perfect to use for some of the activities. All activities are aligned with the common core and I am always thinking about the TEAM evaluation rubric (Tennessee) when creating the whole group lessons.

Pigs and Foxes Literacy and Mathematics

For the book My Lucky Day by Keiko Kasza, I like to read many of her other books and do an author study. This Literacy Unit called "Piglet and Fox Literacy Unit" has lesson plans, graphic organizer chart pieces and worksheets for students to write in, and many literacy center games with recording sheets. Click here if you are interested in this literacy packet. I also created math centers called Pigs and Foxes Mathematics Centers. Click here if you are interested in the Mathematics Centers. All the activities align with the Common Core Standards. I will post pictures of all the charts and centers when I teach this unit.

Mathematics Small Groups or Intervention

When I do my lesson plans, I always plan for my Math Small Groups last.  I have 4 groups and I meet with 2 a day during Math Centers.  It always takes me a long time to find and create engaging, manipulative, and differentiated 15 minute lessons and I prefer them to be seasonal.
So I decided to stop procrastinating and create the games and activities! If you need games for math small groups or to use for intervention I am making packets and have Winter and Spring ready. They can also be used as centers. Just click here for the Winter packet and here for the Spring packet. These packets are all manipulative with no worksheets, just pieces you will need to print and laminate!

Gingerbread Week and the Party

This week we are reading all kinds of Gingerbread books and all of our centers have a Gingerbread Theme. Here are some photos:

During our party, the students will decorate Gingerbread Houses that I purchased from Oriental Trading. I put the houses together and hot glued them to plates.

We also decorate cookies. I bought plain sugar cookies from a bakery and then put icing and sprinkles in small portion cups. They will use a wooden stick to spread the icing.

Then we play a Bingo game that I printed from Here is the link.
I also made a set for our Valentine's Day Party.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Chameleons Literacy and Math

This Chameleon Literacy Unit has lots of writing prompts and papers, charts, graphic organizers and centers. The book Hide Clyde by Russell Benfanti would be great to use for some of the activities, which have common core standards listed. Click here if you are interested in this unit.
I also made coordinating Mathematics Centers. Click here if you are interested in the Math Centers.
I will be working on lots of units during the Holiday Break and will be posting them as soon as I get them completed!

Measurement - Common Core

I compiled 20 lessons you can use for the Kindergarten Common Core Standards for Measurement. Some of the activities I searched for and found on other blogs and I included the links for you to use. I really have enjoyed teaching these standards and hope you can use these activities to help with your planning!

Here are photos of some of the charts we used for this unit.

Here are some of the activities, centers, and books we used during the Growing and Changing Unit.

And this was finally completed. The students wrote and drew pictures about three of their Holiday Wishes.
 Have a great week!

Seeds and Plants Literacy Unit

The Seeds and Plants Literacy Unit includes chart pieces, graphic organizers, student response and writing pages, many picture cards and lots of literacy centers! It is aligned with the common core standards. The book Seeds by Ken Robbins would be perfect to use with this unit. Click here if you are interested in this unit.
I did not make any coordinating Mathematics Centers to go with this unit. I am planning to use some of the math centers from the Gardening Mathematics Centers, which can be found here.

Up next-Chameleons!

Here are some photos of my Panda Literacy and Mathematics Units. They can be found here

Gingerbread Displays

We created our Gingerbread Cookie Glyphs and have them displayed in the hallway. I think this glyph is patterned after one Mrs. Jump had on her website (before her blog). I added the student data sheet to mine.

Here is the key and class data sheet:

If you like the banner, you can grab a free copy here!

And Mom's Gingerbread Display:

I hope to finish my next display tomorrow. The tree is almost done. My students wrote their wish lists and I will put them all around it.  I used green glittered wrapping paper and cut it into strips then layered it and added a bow.
